The AECS's libraries Division of Since its establishment have sought to introduce the
various sources of information as well as organize and preserve them and facilitate
maximum use of them in order to meet the scientific research needs of the AECS's
employees.

Library Sections
Providing the libraries Div. with various sources of information (Books - Reports - Theses - Periodicals - Databases...etc.)
Classification and indexing of publications received into the library (Books – Standards – Reports - Theses & Patents ....etc.) and handing them over to the Computer
Section to enter their data into the automatic index.
- Facilitating the Loaning of publications
- Arranging publications on shelves and making them easier to access
- Providing assistance in using the automated index and various databases.
- Entering the publications received from the library
- Maintaining and developing of library catalogs
- Follow up and update the loan database
- Updating the database in the halls and branch libraries

Library Services
- Employees of the AECS are allowed to borrow ten Books for a period of two weeks
- Two types of loan are available: Normal loan and Permanent loan
- The loan can be extended if the item is not requested by another beneficiary
- Reference Books and Periodicals are not loaned outside the library
- Reports and Theses are loaned only in exceptional cases and when more than one copy
is available
Reference services are provided to beneficiaries by the library's specialists
- There is a possibility to search in many databases through the Internet.
- There is currently 4 devices with an internet connection in the reading room of the central library in addition to internet halls in other centers.
- A special form for this service is available in the AECS's libraries Div. and through the AECS's internal network
- Most applications are provide by the British Library
- Books can be borrowed from the British Library
- Some papers are provide by INS liaison officers in other countries
- Beneficiaries can request photocopying of Articles from Periodicals or Reference Books
available in libraries
- Books that are borrowed are not photographed except in special cases
- Libraries encourage the request and purchase of new books
- New books arrive approximately few Weeks after order date
- Periodicals Subscription is renewed once a year
- The library provides a service of SDI through its available lot of Databases its had
- Any Researcher can develop a research strategy in his field of interest Through this
service in cooperation with the library
Library Publications
The library publishes the following bulletins in electronic form and sends them to the scientists in the AECS via the intranet
- Monthly bibliographical bulletins of New publications accessed to the library
- Annual bibliographic bulletins of all publications from Books, Periodicals, Scientific
Reports..etc. received by the AECS's Libraries Div.
Regulation and Standards used
- The Library uses the UDC Decimal Classification System & LCSH subject headings
- Follow Anglo-American Cataloging Rules
- The Library uses the WinISIS & WebISIS to Automation of publications
International Nuclear Information System (INIS)
This system provides a comprehensive informational reference service on the literature related to the field of nuclear science and technology for peaceful uses
INIS secretariat products and services available to members
The INIS website is the information and news service provided by the INIS Secretariat at the International Atomic Energy Agency, on the scientific production of the peaceful applications of nuclear energy, The database contains about 4.4 million records
This literature is not commercially available in the market and through publishers (eg: scientific reports, theses, conference papers). It is available as a full-text as a PDF file through the INEES database via Internet
